American Airlines enjoyed the best quarter in its history for the three months ending September 30, 2022., with the $13.462 billion in revenues generated by the American Air Group in the third quarter the most of any quarter in history. After expenses and taxes, American earned $483 million in profit in the quarter. Now for some tidbits for the avgeeks: American paid an average of $3.73 per gallon of jet fuel, using 1.031 billion gallons of fuel in the quarter. Mainline aircraft flew 273,000 missions an average stage length of 1,175 miles, while regional carriers added 228,000 flights averaging 476 miles. As of September 30, American had 908 mainline aircraft and 553 regional jets, for a total of 1,461 aircraft in the fleet. American Airlines (AALA) had 102,200 employees as of the end of September.
