TSA Pay Raise Appears Dead

The long hoped for TSA pay raise appears to be dead, based on a review of the text of the 2023 NDAA that was released last night. The Rights of TSA Workforce Act, which would have seen TSA employees moved to the GS system and boosted TSA screener pay nearly 30 percent, was not included in the final NDAA. The text had been included in a version previously passed by the House, but was evidently stripped once in conference with the Senate, which did not include it in its unpasted version. TSA officials had been pushing for the pay raise, with screeners amongst the lowest paid federal employees, in an effort to stem turnover and increase recruitment.
