TSA Administrator Pekoske told CNN in an interview that 40 percent of all TSA employees still remain unvaccinated against COVID-19. All federal employees are required to be fully vaccinated by November 22, and the deadline to begin the Moderna shots has already passed. The first shot of the Pfizer vaccine must be taken by October 18 to complete the series by the deadline. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has told federal agencies that they may begin disciplinary action against unvaccinated employees as soon as November 9. “Failure to comply will lead to discipline up to and including removal or termination.” TSA employs nearly 60,000 people, so around 24,000 remain unvaccinated.
