Emirates is celebrating ten years of flights to DFW from its hub in Dubai (DXB). The first flight took place on February 2, 2012. Since then, more than 1.69 million passengers have flown on the route, as well as 68,000 tons of cargo. The Emirates flight was the first at DFW to be scheduled with the double-decker Airbus A380, although in the end Qantas pipped Emirates by a few days and brought their A380 to DFW first. This route has for the last several years been served by Boeing 777 aircraft. Emirates was the first of the "Middle East Three" to land at DFW, with Qatar and Etihad later joining. Today, only Qatar remains as direct competition to the Middle East.
