Qantas has finally pulled the trigger on their long-awaited "Project Sunrise" order, which sees the Australian flag carrier place firm orders for 12 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft. These frames, to be delivered between 2025 and 2028, will fly anywhere in the world from Australia non-stop, making the elusive London Heathrow (LHR) to Sydney (SYD) flight a reality. Additionally, Qantas has placed firm orders for 20 Airbus A321XLRs and 20 A220-300s. These aircraft will replace aging Boeing 737 and 717 aircraft. The A220s will begin delivery late next year, with the A321XLRs set to deliver from late 2024. Qantas additionally maintains options on a further 94 aircraft across the A320 and A220 families. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
